From infancy children catch colds, flu bugs and even ear infections are quite common. Off to the doctor they go and usually get prescribed antibiotics to fix the problem. We become accustomed to this kind of treatment with antibiotics and other medications to get rid of viruses from the time we are children, into our teenage years, and on into adulthood. It works and its wonderful when the problems are cleared up but over time if taking antibiotics regularly, peoples immune systems begin to reject these drugs. When a disease becomes resistant to one kind of drug, physicians must often use newer, more expensive drugs that may have even worse side effects than the original preferred choice. By building your immune system, many common viruses can be avoided. A healthy immune system is equipped to fight off viruses and germs causing a cold or the flu. If everything is working optimally then we can depend on our own defenses to fight illness. The dependence on modern medicine has become so great that people don't take care of themselves as well and trust that a "medical miracle" will pull them out of any trouble they get into. Increased dependence on medical intervention in the short term is likely to lead to less effective treatment in the future and creates an increased load on the medical infrastructure. For something as simple as common cold, it makes more sense to just "ride it out", use an over-the-counter remedy, or use more natural methods. It would be even better to gain knowledge on how to strengthen the immune system. Put the information you find into a plan that is good for you. The immune system can be strengthened through many easy to implement practices. Besides leading a healthy life-style; eating the right foods, exercising regularly and getting plenty of rest, there are products available which aid in building your immune system. The progression of medical science has produced true wonders in healing. These advances have given people the ability to live lives that might have otherwise ended prematurely. Conventional medicine definitely has it's place in our range of choices for staying healthy. Learning how to boost the immune system may reduce the need for medicine such as antibiotics. Improving immune health can be as simple as adding oranges to your diet for the Vitamin C. Instead of lazing about, get outside, go for a walk and breathe the fresh air. In building your immune system there are many changes you can make, healthy changes that will help when Mr. Cold comes knocking. Boosting your immune system has so many positive things that will benefit you in the long run. Hopefully if a day arrives when you really need medicine your body will not reject it but accept it and make you well. |
